Sports memorabilia as an integral part of a marketing strategy
How can an independent fast food outlet compete with major chains as KFC, for example, if it serves very similar category of food?
Quality of the food and its better taste is a disputable attribute, subject to personal tastes and habits. How to create an identity and corresponding commerical uniqueness on the market? With the popular sports memorabilia on the premises, you can identify your restaurant, „as our Toronto style of food,“ and cater to the sports clientele and the one with a strong nationalistic sentiment.

.

Here are few photos taken in a Toronto restaurant. On one of them, you see the famous photo of „Henderson’s winning goal,“ that has become an icon of a Toronto sports decorated restaurant serving fast food. The other pictures on the wall reflect popularity of other sports teams in Toronto. First photo shows wall decoration from the history of Toronto Maple Leafs. Canadians are proud of their sports teams, successfull sports events, they are never tired of discussing them with friends over the beer or with a host of radio talk shows. They proudly display their team colors on t-shirt, on a cap, team flag on their car or in front of their house. Many picture mementos decorate their walls in home or office. Businesses as seen in this restaurant that display such a popular theme, become theirs, part of their (customer’s) identity.

People take delight in seeing what they like and patronize these establishments over their, perhaps foreigner competitors.

This restaurant becomes „our Toronto style chicken restaurant“ and competes in its territory with KFC.

The largest beer brand on the canadian beer market is also called „company name + Canadian.“ Ii includes Maple Leaf on its symbol. It is most selling, not because of its content in the bottle, but because of its successful advertising and promotion; using chauvinistic association with the name Canadian, and with the hockey in Canada! In the minds of its drinkers, drinking this beer brand is synonymous with being patriotic Canadian and also devouted hockey fan!

Of course, most of these artifacts are sold in limited quantities. They generate not just a good business for its sellers, but they also serve as a good investment properties with steady appreciating monetary value.

Look forward her, to read articles and see photos of unique perspective. They are original canadian newspaper from Toronto, published during Olympic games in nagano 1998. They have beeb published just after the memorable hockey game between Canada and Czech Republic. These stories by Canadian hockey writers are from Canadian perspective, dealing with the loss. They are very interesting, never seen or read here.
